Cocker Spaniels were originally bred as hunting dogs in the United Kingdom, with the term "cocker" deriving from their use to hunt the Eurasian woodcock. When Cocker Spaniels were brought to the United States, they were bred to a different standard, which enabled them to specialize in hunting the American woodcock. This breed has remained a very well-liked and sought-after dog for generations.
This breed is a very loyal and focused breed that enjoys the attention if her family. They have social and curious personalities yet are not known to be overly active or hyper.
